DRUM CONNECTION is a community based program which connects
African and Arabic Hand drumming techniques and rhythms are
taught in a supportive group circle through weekly classes.
Drumming is accessible to people of all ages and abilities. These
classes predominantly cater for adults, however teenagers and children
accompanied by an adult are welcome.
Drumming is simultaneously relaxing and stimulating, providing
health benefits and a rich community experience.
Affordable classes ($110.per term) are held on Thursday
nights and Friday afternoons @ Allwood Neighbourhood House in Hurstbridge (
Melway ref: 185k8).
Classes are taught by Annie Fletcher who has over 20 years
Performing Arts teaching and performance experience.
New rhythms are introduced each term and beginners are
welcome!
Class drums are provided for free for beginners!
Participants are encouraged to perform at local community
festivals with the student ensemble Doowlla, currently celebrating 5 years of
performance.
Doollwa also collaborates with the local community choir
Chocolate Lilies and local Dance groups.

A free trial session is offered to interested students in the first week of
every Victorian school term.
Drum workshops are also available for Community Festivals,
Special groups, Team Building, Events and Parties by arrangement.
Doollwa performances can also be booked for community
